UCA PROJECTED Class List 2021-2022
9th - 12th grade

MATH
Saxon Algebra I (Tuesdays)
This class will use Saxon Algebra I curriculum, third edition.  It is intended for high school students who are ready to begin Algebra.  

Geometry/Trigonometry (Tuesdays)
​This class is designed for students who have progressed at least beyond Algebra I. The anticipated curriculum for this class is ACE Geometry course. We are also planning to add one additional PACE of Trigonometry to the course to give about four weeks of the year exclusively to that study. This class is intended for high school students in the 10th grade and up.


SCIENCE
Biology I (Tuesdays)
This class is geared towards 8th to 10th grade students. The chosen curriculum will tackle Biology I on a level that will satisfy a high school credit for science. The curriculum for this class is expected to be Apologia, and will include class time as well as lab time. 

Biology II - Human Anatomy (Tuesdays)
This class is designed for 10th,11th, and 12th grade students.  It is geared towards earning a high school credit in science in Biology II which has a focus on human anatomy. The curriculum for this class is expected to be Apologia, and will include class and lab time. 


SOCIAL STUDIES
World History (9-11) (Tuesdays)
This class is a high school level World History class using Bob Jones curriculum. The curriculum covers material beginning with the ancient civilizations and moving up until modern times. It is intended to earn a high school level Social Studies World History credit upon completion.

Civics/Economics (11-12) (Tuesdays)
Students taking this class will actual complete two courses over the two semesters.  Before Christmas break, students will go through Bob Jones' Economics curriculum which will earn 1/2 credit in Social Studies.  After the Christmas break, the study will shift to American Government (sometimes referred to as "Civics") and we will use the ACE American Government curriculum.  The Civics course will also earn 1/2 credit in Social Studies upon its completion.  


ENGLISH 
8th - 9th grade English (Tuesdays)
This class is designed to meet the needs of our 8th and 9th grade students and prepare them for the rigors of upper level English.

10th-12th grade English (Tuesdays)
This class will be geared towards students in the 10th through 12th grade level and is intended to earn a high school English credit.


LANGUAGES
Spanish II (Tuesdays)
​This class will be designed to earn a high school level foreign language credit in Spanish. Only students who have already completed Spanish I should join this class.  

ELECTIVES
Varsity Choir (Thursdays)
[must be 13 years old by Jan. 1, 2022]
This class meets once weekly to practice for several performance dates throughout the year.  Performances include a Christmas special, several springtime events at local churches, and competition at the ACE Regional Student Convention.  Also, the students participate in several ministering events in the springtime as well.

Drama Club (Thursdays)
[must be 13 years old by Jan. 1, 2022]
This group will plan to meet weekly to plan out and perform on-stage dramatics in group and individual settings. The various groups may include things like One Act Plays, Dramatic Dialogues, Open House Performances, and Group Bible Speaking. Please plan to attend the Regional Student Convention if you join this class. Many events will be polished to bring with our drama group to convention. 

ACT Prep (Thursdays)
This is a class designed to prepare students for the rigors of taking the ACT.  We plan to go through all of the practice tests in the official ACT prep course. This will be a one semester class.

Computer Science 101 (Thursdays)
We are developing, with the help of a UCA dad who is working within the computer coding field, a syllabus to cover all of the basic foundational software applications that a high school student should be reasonably versed in before heading to college. If time permits, this class may also look into basic website design and coding.

Yearbook Committee (Thursdays)
Yearbook Committee is designed for 11th and 12th graders. This class is charged with the task of creating the annual school yearbook sold at the end of the year.  This class is directly responsible for creatively designing the pages, learning to become proficient in Corel Draw printing software and Adobe Photoshop, and taking and selecting the photographs used for the yearbook.  This will be a one semester course, although the timeline for classes will run from roughly October to March.

High School Art (Thursdays)
[must be 13 years old by Jan. 1, 2022]
This class is designed to teach Art at a high school level and is useful for students wanted to pursue better understanding of art and/or develop skills for art at convention.  The class is not designed to specifically provide convention art, but rather to train students in the skill sets necessary to improve their art. Students can be either first year art students, or returning students who are looking to develop more advanced art skills.

High School Bible (Thursdays)
​This class will study evidences from the Bible and from nature that counteract the prevailing worldly doctrine that all of nature and human existence is the result of evolution. Students study great examples from the Scriptures as well as watch and learn from various videos made from a scientific perspective that show evidence of Creation. This class will be developed for new students to take, as well as students who have taken Bible in the past.

The class list is subject to change based on certain variables including class demand.  All classes with less than 5 participants on the roster are subject to cancellation.

6th - 8th grade

MATH 

Pre-Algebra (Tuesdays)
This class will use the Saxon Algebra ½ curriculum, third edition.  It is intended for 8th graders who are ready for an introduction into Algebraic studies.  There is no prerequisite for this class.

​SCIENCE

This class is geared towards 8th to 10th grade students. The chosen curriculum will tackle Biology I on a level that will satisfy a high school credit for science. The curriculum for this class is expected to be Apologia, and will include class time as well as lab time. This class is for 8th graders and up.

Middle School Science (Thursdays)
This class will be intended for our 6th through 7th graders on Thursdays. This will be the academic enrichment portion of their day for that age level. 

SOCIAL STUDIES 
World Studies (Thursdays)
7th - 8th grade World Studies history is a class designed to work with 7th and 8th grade students using the Bob Jones curriculum geared for that grade level. It will have homework assigned weekly and will count as a year of middle school Social Studies when completed.


ENGLISH 
8th - 9th grade English (Tuesdays)
This class is designed to meet the needs of our 8th and 9th grade students and prepare them for the rigors of upper level English. 


ELECTIVES
6-7 Enrichment Classes- JV Music, Art, and P.E.
There will be music, art, and p.e. electives worked into the Thursday schedule for 6th through 7th grade students.
