UCA PROJECTED Class List 2023-2024
9th - 12th grade

MATH
Saxon Algebra I (Tuesdays)
This class will use Saxon Algebra I curriculum, third edition. It is intended for high school students who are ready to begin Algebra.  

Geometry/Trigonometry (Tuesdays)
​This class will use ACE Geometry curriculum and we will also spend one month covering the introduction to Trigonometry which is also put out by ACE. Students will need to have finished Algebra I before taking this course. 


SCIENCE
Biology I (Tuesdays)
This class is geared towards 8th to 10th grade students. The chosen curriculum will tackle Biology I on a level that will satisfy a high school credit for this subject. The overall course of study will include class time as well as lab time. 

Biology II/Human Anatomy (Tuesdays)
This class is designed for 10th,11th, and 12th grade students. It is geared towards earning a high school credit in Human Anatomy and will include class and lab time. 



SOCIAL STUDIES
World History (9-11) (Tuesdays)
This class is a high school World History class which will use Bob Jones curriculum. The curriculum covers a survey of world history from the ancient civilizations through the modern era. It is intended to earn a high school level Social Studies World History credit upon completion.

Civics/Economics (11-12) (Tuesdays)
This class will be 1/2 credit of Economics in the Fall and 1/2 credit of American Government in the Spring. The curriculum will be Bob Jones for Economics and ACE for Civics. It is a class designed for 11th and 12th grade level students.


ENGLISH 
8th - 9th grade English (Tuesdays)
This class will be on a high school level and is designed to meet the needs of our 8th and 9th grade students and prepare them for the rigors of upper level English.

10th-12th grade English (Tuesdays)
This class will be geared towards students in the 10th through 12th grade level and is intended to earn a high school English credit.


LANGUAGES
Spanish II (Thursdays)
​This class will be designed to earn a high school level foreign language credit in Spanish. Having completed Spanish I will be a prerequisite for taking this class.


ELECTIVES
Varsity Choir (Thursdays)
[must be 13 years old by Jan. 1, 2024]
This class meets once weekly to practice for several performance dates throughout the year. Performances include Christmas and last day of school specials as well as competition at the ACE Regional Student Convention. Also, the students often participate in several ministering events in the springtime which usually includes serving legislators at the state capitol.

Drama Club (Thursdays)
[must be 13 years old by Jan. 1, 2024]
This group will plan to meet weekly to plan out and perform on-stage dramatics in group and individual settings. The various groups may include things like One Act Plays, Dramatic Dialogues, Open House Performances, and Group Bible Speaking. Please plan to attend the Regional Student Convention if you join this class. Many events will be polished to bring with our drama group to convention. 

ACT Prep (Thursdays)
This is a class designed to prepare students for the rigors of taking the ACT.  We plan to go through all of the practice tests in the official ACT prep course. This will be a one semester class.

Music Theory (Thursdays)
This class is intended for 8th grade and up students. The class is designed to teach basic chord development and chord theory, to assist students in learning how to recognize chord progressions in songs, and to show them how to compose music using chord theory. The class will meet on Thursdays and will be a one semester class.

Yearbook Committee (Thursdays)
Yearbook Committee is designed for 11th and 12th graders. This class is charged with the task of creating the annual school yearbook sold at the end of the year. This class is directly responsible for creatively designing the pages, learning to become proficient in Corel Draw printing software and Adobe Photoshop, and taking and selecting the photographs used for the yearbook.  This will be a one semester course, although the timeline for classes will run from roughly October to March.

High School Art (Thursdays)
[must be 13 years old by Jan. 1, 2024]
This class is designed to teach Art at a high school level and is useful for students wanted to pursue better understanding of art and/or develop skills for art at convention. The class is not designed to specifically provide convention art, but rather to train students in the skill sets necessary to improve their art. Students can be either first year art students, or returning students who are looking to develop more advanced art skills.

High School Bible (Thursdays)
​This class will study evidences from the Bible and from nature that counteract the prevailing worldly doctrine that all of nature and human existence is the result of evolution. Students study great examples from the Scriptures as well as watch and learn from various videos made from a scientific perspective that show evidence of Creation. This class will be developed for new students to take, as well as students who have taken Bible in the past. 

Power Point (Thursdays)
This class is designed to teach students how to use the Power Point software in order to create presentations for live audiences. If time permits we will also explore other Office software such as Word or Excel spreadsheets.

Pre-Algebra (Tuesdays)
This class will use the Saxon Algebra ½ curriculum, third edition. It is intended for 8th graders who are ready for an introduction into Algebraic studies. There is no prerequisite for this class.

7th Grade Math (Thursdays)
This class would use a Saxon curriculum and would prepare students to be ready for Pre-Algebra. Homework assignments would be included with this class. This class can and would be taken as part of the 4 to 5 class school day offered to 7th graders on Thursdays. 

6th Grade Math (Thursdays)
This class would use Saxon curriculum and would offer a middle school level teaching class for Math. Homework assignments would be included with this class. This class can and would be taken as part of the 4 to 5 class school day offered to 6th graders on Thursdays.

This class is geared towards training students in a study of World History at a middle school level for 7th and 8th graders. We will use Bob Jones curriculum for this class and it will include homework and tests.

6th - 7th grade English
​This class would be designed to teach English at the middle school level and would be designed as an academic class. Homework assignments would be included with this class. This class can and would be taken as part of the 4 to 5 class school day offered to 6th and 7th graders on Thursdays. 


ELECTIVES
6-7 Enrichment Classes- JV Music, Art, and P.E.
There will be music, art, and p.e. electives worked into the Thursday schedule for 6th through 7th grade students.

This class meets once weekly to practice for several performance dates throughout the year.  Performances include a Christmas special, several springtime events at local churches, and competition at the ACE Regional Student Convention.  Also, the students participate in several ministering events in the springtime as well.
